Grand prix cycliste de québec
Race
The Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec, UCI WorldTour event presented in North America, is a major step on the way to fulfilling one of the primary objectives of the UCI WorldTour: the globalization of élite cycling. This tour stop in Québec City joins the list of existing officially sanctioned events in Europe, Oceania and Asia.
Teams entered
Priority entry in the Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec, a WorldTour Circuit event, is reserved for the world’s best teams–the ProTeams–which, as WorldTour licence holders, are required to participate in every stop on the tour. WorldTour licences have been awarded to 19 teams in 2013.
The organizer may, at its discretion, increase the number of riders in its race field (to a maximum of 200) and invite wild card teams (i.e., those granted official Wild Card status by the International Cycling Union) to take part in the WorldTour events. Only teams meeting strict sporting, legal, administrative and ethical criteria can be awarded the Wild Card label.
